Wise Men: Gifts That Open Doors

As we have embarked on this Christmas journey, gleaning from the wisdom of the Magi- or the "Wise Men"- that came to see and worship the child Jesus Christ after his birth, we have learned that wisdom is the foundation upon which one must build in order to achieve success.

"Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding." Proverbs 4:7

And again, this begs the question: What is wisdom? From where, and whom, does wisdom originate?

Proverbs 9:10 states that "The fear [reverence] of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding." Wisdom begins where God is known and revered. We have seen that there are two types of wisdom- the wisdom of God, and the wisdom of this world. We have also seen that the wisdom of this world, is a counterfeit. Just like money- gold, silver, dollar bills, diamonds and other precious gems- only that which has value, can have a counterfeit. The wisdom of God, and the truth of His WORD, has infinite value, bursting with everything that is needed pertaining to life and godliness. The wisdom of this world, while appearing as having a form of light and divinity, has no true power backing it.

There are many things in society these days, that seem to have a form of light, a form of godliness or divinity, a form of wisdom and prosperity, but there is nothing of value behind their form. We see this in the ludicrous ways many people gain fame or fortune these days. They boast of their wealth and their status, however there is no true gift generating their riches and fame. Their wealth and their success is an illusion, built upon the counterfeit wisdom of this world and backed by lust, greed, and deceit, not upon the unshakeable wisdom of God. They gain it all at a cost that is paid in the darkness.

"Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away... Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth." 2 Timothy 3:5,7

Always learning, but never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. One can learn the wisdom of this world day in and day out, but without gaining God's wisdom through the WORD, one will never come into the knowledge of the truth. But when one does choose to build upon the foundation of God's WORD, and to gain wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of GOD, then the truth shall be known, and the truth shall make free.

The Wise Men from the east came bearing gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh as they traveled to witness the KING of the Jews who had been born, and share these gifts with Him.

"Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him... and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh." Matthew 2:1, 9-11

Their gifts opened the door unto them, not only to witness and worship this KING, but to be the ones able to find Him in a time where He was meant to be hidden. It was their wisdom- their gift- of studying the stars and reading the constellations that made their journey possible.

It is written that a man's gift opens doors for him, and brings him before great men. For the magi, many years of learning the stars and their constellations, many long nights staying awake gazing up at the starry sky, many days reading ancient texts and engaging with one another in starlit conversations... all of this led to their increasing in wisdom as well as the sharpening of their gift. And it was this gift, that brought them before the KING of the world.

"A man’s gift opens doors for him, and brings him before great men." Proverbs 18:16

The Magi's gift of wisdom, brought them great wealth. Both the wisdom and the wealth that they acquired from their gift, made room for them to operate in their highest calling, and brought them before a great man, and the Son of God- the KING, Jesus Christ.

Your gift, too, can open up doors for you in life that you have never imagined, and it can bring you to stand and operate in your highest calling in the presence of great men.

You, too, can build success upon the firm foundation that is the wisdom of God. You too, can build wealth upon the wisdom of God's economy.

You too, can grow in wisdom and nurture your gift, and operate in your highest calling.

Whether it entails long nights studying beneath the light of the stars, or long days of learning, fine-tuning and improving upon the gift you have been given; through faith and patience, and refusing to give up, your gift will open doors for you and will bring you before great men.

"so that you will not be [spiritually] sluggish, but [will instead be] imitators of those who through faith [lean on God with absolute trust and confidence in Him and in His power] and by patient endurance [even when suffering] are [now] inheriting the promises." Hebrews 6:12

Do not despise small beginnings. Do not be discouraged by the passing of time. Your gift shall be made manifest, as you first grow in wisdom. For it is with each passing day that you are able to increase more and more in wisdom, revelation, and knowledge. And when the set time is come, because of the time you spent seeking out true wisdom, your gift shall lead you, and you shall be in the right place, at the right time, fully able to accomplish what your gift has called you to in that very moment.

The gift of a man maketh room for him, And before the great it leadeth him. Proverbs 18:16 (YLT)

"I will guide you in the way of wisdom; I will lead you on straight paths." Proverbs 4:11

It all starts on wisdom's path.

The doors that open unto the halls of greatness, lie down that very path.
